Senior Competitive Intelligence Engineer

The role is for a Senior Competitive Intelligence Engineer who will apply hands-on technical skills to shape Akamai's cloud strategy. Key responsibilities include conducting technical evaluations of cloud and AI platforms, provisioning infrastructure, deploying workloads, measuring performance, and documenting reproducible results. The engineer will develop and manage a benchmarking framework for AI inference workloads, standardizing tests and KPIs to compare providers such as Llama and Mistral. Tasks also involve assessing competitor architectures, APIs, networking, storage, GPU availability, orchestration tools, and developer experience, and translating findings into battle cards and technical comparison guides for sales and presales teams. Collaboration with product management will focus on analyzing cloud products, delivering actionable insights, and recommending roadmap items to address customer challenges. The engineer must review and fact-check differentiation claims in marketing materials, sales decks, and analyst briefings. Required experience includes 12 years of technical work in cloud engineering, solutions architecture, DevOps, technical marketing, or presales within enterprise technology, plus a Bachelor's degree or equivalent. Demonstrated expertise in provisioning instances, configuring networking, deploying containers, and troubleshooting performance issues is essential. Proficiency with AI/ML inference workflows, model endpoint deployment, performance metrics, and cost modeling is required. Experience designing reproducible tests, controlling variables, and presenting accurate, data-driven insights using benchmarking methodologies is mandatory.
